Here are our top tips to easy and healthy college meals, so you don’t have to sleep hungry anymore.

1 – PREP AHEAD OF TIME

It’s always better to prep ahead of time. whether it is marinating your meat or to partially cook your food.

Here a recipe for you to try.

 

Easy Chicken Tikka Over The Stove Recipe:

Take a piece of chicken breast, put it in a resealable bag, add one pack of tikka masala,  a julienned carrot, green bell pepper, and onion. Add in 1/4 cup of yogurt, 1 tbsp of each ginger and garlic paste and 1/8 cup of oil.  Sprinkle salt and pepper if needed and the juice of one lemon. mix in the bag and in the fridge it goes. Next time you are hungry, all you have to do is throw it in the oven or put it over the stove and enjoy it hot.

2 – COOK IN BULK

It’s always easier to have a home cooked meal when its already in your fridge. veggies and lentils are a great example of some items you can cook in bulk.

Spinach and Lentils Recipe:

In a pot add a cup full of lentils with 1/4 cup of oil, 1 tbsp of ginger and garlic paste, half a spoon of turmeric, 1 -1/2 tbsp of chili flakes, and salt to taste. dice a tomato and add in some spinach. Cook it on the stove for 30  minutes or until soft. Once done transfer in a Tupperware container. The recipe is great to have with any staple food,  Make it delicious. fry some chopped garlic cloves in oil along with a tbsp of cumin seeds and 2-3 whole chilies.  Add it in along with the oil and devour it.

3 – BALANCE YOUR DIET

While unhealthy snack may fill you up and are easy to get your hands on, they don’t necessarily provide the nutrients that you require.,  DON’T SKIP YOUR VEGGIES.

Veggie Pasta Recipe:

For those days when you don’t feel like having desi food.  Throw together this easy dish. Add a cup of pasta, 1/2 cup of boneless chicken julienned, a diced tomato, 1 diced onion, 1/2 bundle of spinach, salt, and pepper to taste, 1tbsp each of chili powder and Italian seasoning with 1/4 cup of milk,  5 tbsp of oil and on the stove it goes. Cook till the pasta is done and enjoy it hot.

4 – GET CREATIVE

Get creative with what you have left in the fridge.  Leftover is a great way to save time and money.

 Taco Bowl Recipe:

Got some leftover chicken? Cook it with veggies and rice, add in black kidney beans and corn to make a quick taco bowl. For a Chinese twist, scramble and add an egg!

5 – NOT ALL FROZEN THINGS ARE BAD

Processed food is bad for you, not frozen. Know the difference. frozen fruits and veggies can help you skip a few steps when cooking.

Smoothie Bowl Recipe:

Blend in a handful of frozen berries and a frozen banana with 1 tsp of honey and 1/4 cup of milk until smooth to whip up a quick smoothie bowl. Add dry fruits, fresh fruits, chia seeds or even pumpkin seeds as toppings!
